How Can We Help?
We are all shaped by the people who came before us, every day. But often, the stories we know about the past are not about us. Carolina Community Archaeology is here to connect community with history.

FROM THE SOIL TO THE ARCHIVES
Archaeology
Archaeology is the study of human beings that came before us, using the clues they left behind. Archaeology can help us answer questions about our past to address problems we still have today. Whether it is small scale investigations or large-scale excavations, we can help. The Carolina Community Archaeology team has nearly twenty years of experience with Cultural Resource Management (archaeology needed before development), institution archaeology (archaeology for private foundations like the Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park in SC and James Madison’s Montpelier, in VA), and teaching archaeology from 1st-12th grade, college, and adult learners. Whatever you need, we can probably help.
History Education
Although archaeologists are discovering new things about our past every day, that new information rarely appears in our history education. Carolina Community Archaeology specialized in producing education programs, teaching content, and curriculum. In the past our team has produced K-12 worksheets, workbooks, programs, videos, and units on Gullah Geechee, Indigenous, and South Carolina history. We have also produced programs, lectures, lecture series, and mini courses for HOA’s, POA’s, community programs, OLLI-USCB, Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, and Scientists in the Community. If you are looking for ideas or materials to incorporate history into your project, we can probably help.
Exhibits & Content
Our communities are full of history, but sometimes it is hard to see. If you need content to illustrate the past, whether it is physical or digital, we provide content creation services for both small and large projects. Over the last decade of community-oriented archaeology in the Lowcountry, our team has learned how passionate our communities are about our collective past. We can work with you to develop beautiful displays, exhibits, hard or digital copy materials, and videos that help you incorporate the deep roots of the past into your project. If you want to illustrate your past, we can probably help.
